Spokane a river runs through it
Day two in Spokane - great food, exploring downtown artisan and fair trade stores, and floating down the Spokane river.
Walked into downtown Spokane and ended up at the Satellite Diner for breakfast this morning. Boy was that a great find. Uniformly great breakfasts all around.

Riverfront park is between our hotel and downtown so we spend a fair amount of time passing through and exploring new sections. Today we checked out the huge radio flyer wagon (and turned into 6 year olds as we slid down the handle turned into a slide), the fountain, and some urban artwork. As we walked around downtown we noticed lots of very interesting old buildings. Many buildings with fancy scrollwork and details around windows etc. Spokane appears to have kept many of their beautiful old buildings in great shape.

In the afternoon we headed back to the Spokane River, a little downstream, for a rafting float trip. In the summer the water levels are much lower so the river is pretty tame. We had a wonderful relaxing float with a few thrills going over rapids thrown in to keep us on our toes. The water was pretty cold, about 68 degrees, so we didn’t swim but going over the rapids we did get some pretty cold splashes as we went along…
Next it was back to the hotel for a swim in the pool and then back over the river for dinner at the Italian Kitchen. Wonderful food at an outside table.
