Lakes, Mountains, and Clear Blue Skys

This was day 1 on the Trail of the Couer d’Alene. Row adventures picked us up in the morning, did some mechanical work on a couple of bikes, then transported us and our bikes to the Bull Run Trail head. From there we biked the 18 miles to Harrison, checked in to our BnB, The Osprey Inn, and ate our picnic lunch on their great front porch looking at the lake. From there we biked 9 miles toward Plummer until we got to where the trail was closed because of a fire break that was built across the trail, then back to Harrison and ice cream at the Creamery.

The scenery on our first ride today was very different from what we had seen so far we were riding along a valley in the Bitteroot Mountains with lots of small lakes and rivers and marsh land.  Things were much greener here.  We were not riding on any roads today this was a traditional bike trail all the way. That was really nice. There were plenty of restroom facilities available but not much in the way of running water.

Today was Gorgeous!

Hanging out waiting for the 8:30 vans.

The scenery along the way was gorgeous, vibrant greens and blues, and browns. The best scenery so far!

The osprey Inn was built in 1915 as a boarding house. In 1917 it was turned into the town hospital. It has been operating as a bed and breakfast for many years now.

You can barely see it in this picture but this bridge rises in segments rather than in one gradual climb. It goes up the levels off then goes up then levels up, time after time on each side of the bridge.

Part of the trail from Plummer to the chatcolet bridge was closed because the work needed to build a fire break scooped up part of the trail.

Jane FletcherAbsolutely! Ice cream is high on our list of priorities. But we do have a rule that we can only have ice cream if we have bikes that day…..
