Exploring a Desert Garden and Slot Canyon

Relaxation day before we start the drive back to Florida. We passed the time hanging out in downtown St George,  exploring a local desert garden, and climbing around on the red rocks and slot canyon in Pioneer Park.

The Red Hills Desert Garden was full of every variety of desert plant you could think of with lots of interpretive signage, a meandering stream with fish, and fossils of dinosaur tracks.

These dinosaur tracks were made when the dinosaurs were swimming in the lake that used to cover this area and their feet scraped on the bottom.

The Pioneer Park was a mass of undulating red rock with lots of places to explore including a slot canyon. The slot canyon got so narrow that there was no daylight on either side of our slimmest explorer. If she turned her head she was afraid she would scratch her sunglasses!

Just a few wildlife sitings today a lizard, a humming bird and what looked like a chipmunk but with a large white patch on its back.

Then it was back to the hotel, a dip in the pool, and a visit with family.
