Like some of my other hikes, this had an unexpected closed trail that I had to find a way around which caused my gps to lose my route completely! It was fortunate that the Viking trail this direction was well marked until towards the end so I added some distance on another road. I didn’t end up taking many photos because the route wasn’t very interesting.
(Scott) In case you didn’t read the description above, note that these all represent plants from the South Seas, in honor of Sir Joseph Banks. Banks, who grew up near Horncastle, was Captain James Cook’s botanist on his first voyage to the South Seas.
The trail went through a golf course that had heather growing all around, it was beautiful! However, the golfers had priority so there were a couple of spots you had to wait while the golfers passed through.
The next photos are of a small village called Woodhall Spa where I was fortunate enough to find some ice cream to cool me down.
I guess I should have taken a photo before starting to eat the ice cream. I was only going to have a scoop of chocolate mint but was talked into trying the banoffee ice cream, also. It’s made of bananas, caramel with graham cracker crumbs. It was delicious!
