to Wickenburg 8
Things changed with the lower elevation. Suddenly, we were worried about it being too hot during the day. We agreed to move breakfast and lunch up by half an hour. We were on the road much earlier, by 7:30.
They got us on a trail along a canal and it went all through The Phoenix metroplex of Mesa and Tempe and Surprise. Then some nice residential streets before hitting hwy 60 which was three lanes each way and lots of traffic.
JW and I had flats along the canal. Mine seemed to seal at the time, but later it was leaking again. This was my first leak of the trip. The tires have too many miles on them. The van was waiting a bit down the road after the second loss of air. It was still rideable, but with a floor pump available I chose to put a plug in. I'm not sure if it worked. I'll see tomorrow.
First part of ride was pretty nice, hwy 60 not so fun.
The GPS route took us to a slightly different place than we were meant to go to. It was a rodeo oriented place. Wickenbug claims to be the team roping capital of the world.

after dinner, BW found a leak in his tire and we plugged it. We'll see about that tomorrow.
A great horned owl has been calling as I write this. I didn't get a great look at two hummingbirds, but I think they are Anna's, which would be a life bird! I hope to get a better look (another thing for tomorrow).
We are at a higher elevation and it will be cooler in the morning.
Today's ride: 78 miles (126 km)
Total: 2,824 miles (4,545 km)
