To Slidell feb 27

I was on breakfast duty. This requires washing all the group pots and utensils, putting lunch and breakfast foods away and packing everything in the trailer.  We still got started shortly after 8. The route was on a lightly traveled road at first but then we were on US 90 through Biloxi and Gulfport, etc.  We took a few small roads through Christian Pass and some other places which was a relief.

Some years back some bridges and roadway were damaged on US 90 near the Louisiana/Mississippi border and the road is closed to vehicle traffic. Currently, the bridges and road are suitable for bicycles. I wonder how long it will be before it is unrideable.  Right now though, it is great for cycling. Even before the road is closed to cars, traffic dies down. Then there is a long stretch in the Pearl River area that is blocked off.

At times, we had a crosswind and sometimes a head wind today. very rarely a tailwind.

We went over the dirt and concrete blocks

Camping is at a big RV park. Our sites are damp and have no electricity. Pretty exciting. I am sitting in a vacant site where there is wifi and electricity.

Today's ride: 80 miles (129 km)
Total: 742 miles (1,194 km)

Nancy WrightWe rode on the main road along the coast through Biloxi and Gulfport in 2019. Riding on the sidewalk was safer than mixing it up with the traffic, and then we took side streets. I watch a You Tube channel called “Ryan Hall Y’all.” His forecasts are the most accurate and he does a great job explaining the reasons for future trends. He is forecasting some extremely severe storms and tornado outbreaks early next week from Texas east along the Gulf Coast. Not sure how far west you will be Monday and Tuesday, but it might be good to keep an eye on the weather. As Ryan Hall tells people, “Don’t be scared, be prepared.”
