To Seminole Canyon SP near Comstock. 20 mar

I did not mention yesterday that past Bracketville the foliage was much different. There is a lot more mesquite and cactus and other arid vegetation.

It is much scrubbier and sparser.  Today's ride started from the hotel so no standing around in the dark and cold for breakfast.  It was all on US90 and mostly TAILWINDS.  The road surface was mostly good or the tailwind make it seem so.

Meadowlarks and sparrows along the way. Maybe a curve billed thrasher.

A guided hike was just starting when we got there and the vehicle was not there with luggage, so John (JC) and I joined the hike.  There are very old pictograms on the walls.  Some fossils are visible.  and a few petroglyphs.

The tour leader is a volunteer and had his wife and child with him.

The campground is on a little plateau and windy.  Very interesting place.

Birds seen here are : Verdin, Sage Thrasher, Say's Phoebe,  raven, Blue Gray Gnatcatcher, Bewick's Wren, N Mockingbird, White Crowned Sparrow, R W Blackbird and maybe Green Tailed Towhee.

Anyway, a pretty good day.

As often seems to happen, I am sitting outside a building to use the wifi.

Today's ride: 40 miles (64 km)
Total: 1,809 miles (2,911 km)
