to Oberlin LA 6 March

  Last evening, we heard that someone's dog in Simmesport had disappeared. They wanted to know if maybe it had followed some of the cyclists. Arlen from our group had talked to some of the riders in the family of other riders who had told him that a dog had followed them for miles to the next town.  The dog's people were able to find it there fortunately. Wow

  It was another cold night in the 30's. We got a late start partly because of that and partly because one of the people I have been riding with had to go grocery shopping in the morning. This takes a while for 11 people.

It was a  beautiful ride. Excellent! Hardly anything to complain about. Beautiful scenery, beautiful roads.

Everyone stopped in Mamou at the Krazy Cajun Diner. Very LOcal and quaint.

Only one shower here at the city park, but all is good. As usual. I am sitting outside a building for internet. There didn't seem to be anywhere for that yesterday.

It has warmed up considerably and I am in shorts and a short sleeve shirt. at 4 PM.

Bird talk::

There was a barred owl calling in the early hours. Many birds calling in the AM but I was too cold to look.

White-faced Ibis and Willets and Yellowlegs and Little Blue Herons seen in the crawfish catching ponds.

Purple Martins and Tree and Barn Swallows.

Today's ride: 48 miles (77 km)
Total: 1,044 miles (1,680 km)
