To New Orleans 28 Feb
busy day today. Did laundry and worked a little on the bike. Left at 10:30 for NOLA. Went to Michael's Cycles with 3 others and we bought a lot of stuff.
Then lunch at NOLA Po'Boys where I had a Muffaletta. I quick look at the Voodoo Museum. Alot of people were on Bourbon Street.
It was closed to traffic, National Guard was manning the entrances to keep cars out. Lots of beads and alcohol and costumes. We saw some of the floats go by earlier on heading to the staging area.
There was a man on a bamboo touring bike who said he and his wife had been traveling for 2 years around the world from Germany to Japan and then the US.
Had a Beignet, saw the Mississippi River and then to the Roosevelt Hotel and the Sazerac Bar for a Sazerac which was invented there. It has Rye, Herbsaint, lemon peel and bitters I'm told. It gets better as you drink it.
I had a falafel later and the it was nearly time to head back. All of the time there were many people in their Mardi Gras clothes as Fat Tuesday is next week.
