To Mexico Beach 21 Feb update

We anticipated cold weather which is why we were at a hotel instead of camping. Breakfast was available at the hotel. They still have the "eggs" even with all the talk about prices.   It was projected to be 87 miles to the campground and some of the people left at 7:20 just after sunrise, the official earliest allowed. I didn't get going until 8:15.

My group missed the first turn and went straight down to the coast. The wind was behind us for the first 50 to 55 miles. Much of the time there was a nice shoulder, but sometimes we had inconsiderate or intentionally rude drivers when there was not.

We met a few of the gang in Eastpointe just before the big causeway to Apalachicola.  There was a fire burning on an island nearby.

Mexico Beach was hit by Hurricane Michael in 2018 and many trees are gone.  It was a pretty nice ride but will probably be the longest day of the trip for many.  With our slightly different route early on and some other slight deviations, I got to camp at 90 miles. I rarely finish that close to 100 without going to 100, and so I went the last 10 miles to get it.

At the Gulf of Kazakhstan wearing almost everything I have with me
