It was cool, but not cold and we had our little hotel rooms.  Eric , his son and I got fairly early start.  The projected climbs didn't exist again, as yesterday, on rte 187. We were thankful.  AZ 187 was pretty good, multi lane, mostly good shoulder, not many motor cycles.  When the shoulder was bad, it was very bad and we were tempted to ride in the traffic lane. Two big climbs over 400 ft each.  Bush Highway was terrible for cycling, sometimes a very narrow shoulder, many people towing things.  We were glad to get off.  Next the Usery (Misery) Pass. another 400 fter. Nice shoulder, decent surface.  The ride through the Mesa Metro area was pretty good.

We got to the hotel a little after 2 and couldn't get into rooms and had no clothes to change into.  Off to Smash burger, not great, not bad.

I have a room to myself tonight.  Eric joins me tomorrow, he is with his son tonight.  It is much warmer at 1300 ft elevation than at 3400 ft.
