To Marathon 22 Mar

It was great to be at the church because it was in the 30's again when we started.  The winds were low then but came up fast as did the temperature.

US 90 is amazingly light on traffic fortunately because the shoulder was much rougher than the traffic lane.  It was generally uphill and slow.  The vehicle met us at the world's smallest Buc-ees.

I decided to ride by myself for the rest before the winds and heat came up.  The flora has changed a little and the area is drier yet.

I think most mornings are going to be cold for a while at these high and dry places.

The RV campground is rather barren, but more than just dust.  Many bird species here.  A great horned owl just flew in and landed on the electric pole.

Pyrrhuloxia, Brewer's Sparrow (?), Curve billed Thrasher, Sage Thrasher, Cactus Wren and some others previously mentioned.

The skies are said to be very dark here for stargazing.  It  is also near to Big Bend NP.

Today's ride: 54 miles (87 km)
Total: 1,944 miles (3,129 km)
