to Johnson City
Roadrunner RV Park
We had to leave our nice airbnb and head out into the cycling world. We came across many cyclists and runners on the trails in Austin. Just a bit further there was a cycling event with police escort going the other way. It was awesome to see so many other cyclists.
It was one of our hilliest rides and very strong head winds made it a lot harder. Many felt it was one of the hardest so far. definitely, some of the climbs were above 10%. It was pretty territory especially close to Austin. Not much further west, it became noticeably less green and much more arid. We got in later than I would have suspected due to the conditions. More often than I would like
It was the first day of cycling for our replacement co-leader Joe. He did ok.
I forgot to mention yesterday that there are many driverless Waymo cars in Austin. It will be interesting to hear how the experiment goes.
We are several hundred feet higher than we were the last time we camped and it is cooler here.
Today's ride: 50 miles (80 km)
Total: 1,527 miles (2,457 km)
