to ichetucknee springs

this was our first morning after tenting. It took a bit more time to get going. We were still at Tom and Martha's and had a delicious breakfast.  They are great hosts. They have been hosting groups for possibly 10 years, twice a year. It was cold overnight and I was somewhat uncomfortable due to that.

We are all taking turns buying food and cooking dinner. It was already my turn. The organizers thought it best to shop in Gainesville near the start of today's ride. This put us pretty far behind schedule. John C and I rode moderately hard to make up for it as we had to prepare dinner and get our tents up and all that.  Obviously, we didn't get some things we should have.

It was a pretty good route although there was some highway and some bad shoulder but not at the same time. More elevation gain than the previous days

We thought we were staying at Ichetucknee Campground at the State Park, but it was really at Ichetucknee Family Campground. We walked over to the park where they have some springs (72f).  A few of the riders went in.

I am sitting outside the office where there is wifi. More tomorrow.

Today's ride: 60 miles (97 km)
Total: 189 miles (304 km)

Nancy WrightHi Stan, When our group rode the Southern Tier in 2019, we stayed at the same campground in Itchetucknee Springs where you are staying. We stayed in the cabins, which were pretty basic but they had heaters in them. Seeing the springs there was a highlight of the Florida section of the ride. Johnny G. and one of the other riders went over to see the springs, got lost in the woods on the way back to the campground and almost missed dinner!
