To Brawley 11
Pictures from yesterday, crossing into California
Today started at a nice temp. The consensus is that yesterday's showers were the worst so far. Onto Cal 78, which had a fair bit of traffic. Most was respectful. We started with a long gradual uphill and then trended lower. The landscape got more and more arid until we got to the Imperial Dunes Recreation Area and Glamis. I went through here last time and remember a crappy store in Glamis, but it is a fairly typical store now with T shirts and food and hardware.
Later we left the dunes, but it was still quite dry. The route was allegedly changed to avoid 7 miles of unpaved road, but noone had the update. I got to and passed the 3000 mile mark a little before Brawley. Brawley is hot today and is below sea level in the Imperial Valley.
We are at a very nice church with a pool, laundry machines and nice kitchen.
As many miles have gone by and dry weather and loss of sealant due to the leak in my tire, I decided to check if there was any sealant left. The front seemed to have some sealant, but the rear was nearly out. I added some and should be able to get the last 150 miles or so. Bill W also needed a little sealant in his front tire.
