to Austin on 13 March
There was rain just at sunset last night and things got wet. All our tents and stuff were soaked this morning.
I did a little helping for breakfast as it was my turn, but others did more. I cannot seem to get organized very quickly in the morning.
It was a beautiful ride from Buescher Park to Bastrop Park. There was little traffic and nice pavement as there is a highway parallel. It was hilly but fun to ride. Some of the rest of the roads were rough surface and busy, sometimes with shoulder and sometimes not. It has been warm in the afternoons now.
One of the people I ride with was struggling after the halfway point. We stopped with 6 miles to go and he could not get his heart to stop racing. The support vehicle came to get him. The roads near the airport were quite busy but then we got on some bike paths and bike lanes. I know I was hoping for more nice rural roads for the entire trip. Texas is big on chip sealed roads and they can be nice, but often aren't.
Tonight and tomorrow night are at a airbnb, which is quite spacious. We will see how it works out. I am in the top bunk with a queen size mattress. Very rare. Dinner was chinese delivered and quite tasty.
After dinner, almost all went to REI Coop to look for stuff to replace lost, broken or whatever stuff. It has been many nights since we had accessible wifi in the evening.
Today's ride: 52 miles (84 km)
Total: 1,477 miles (2,377 km)
