Austin 14 March

People mostly slept in today. Breakfast was the usual assortment. Pat and I went to a bike shop where he got his bottom bracket, crankset repaired.  Lots of folks did minor bike maintenance with chains and tires.  Also most of us had lots of dirty laundry to take care of.

In the evening, I went down the street and got some banh mi. Several of us went to the Ann Richards Congress bridge to see the bats fly off in search of food at sunset.  It is a popular thing to do. These are Mexican free-tailed bats.

We were going to take the bus, but it didn't come and we ended up on Lyft. We took the Electric Cab back.

Nancy WrightWe missed seeing the bats when we were in Austin in 2019. I had a dog follow me for about 10 miles in the middle of nowhere in Montana in 1996. When I got to the top of a hill and started down the other side, the dog couldn’t keep up and stopped. People who were riding behind me said they later saw that a car had hit the dog. Good thing you have gotten out of Louisiana when you did. Right now, there is a swarm of tornadoes down there. One just crossed Lake Ponchartrain and is headed just north of Slidell. Crazy weather…
