IT was a pretty fancy b&b, that does lots of weddings. There was a huge breakfast spread and the food was very good. Most chose to do the long descent to the trail. I hit 44 on the steepest part and averaged 34 for that first 1.5 miles. Then it was up and down for a few miles before the 20 to 24 mph finish.
We started on the paved Western Maryland Rail Trail which parallels the C&O and probably put it out of business. Lunch was at Fort Frederick State Park, I missed the turn to stay on the trail but found it. The C&O was still rocky but not so muddy for the 13 remaining miles. Two people who live nearby and who had been on trips with other participants met us for lunch and rode back with the group to Williamsport where they had a car.
Today's ride: 50 miles (80 km)
Total: 1,733 miles (2,789 km)
