to Mount Vernon

It was drizzly and overcast when we were thinking of leaving, so we waited a half hour. The rain stopped soon, though it was overcast most of the day. We are on the main bike trail called Ohio to Erie (river to lake) which goes from Cincinnati to Cleveland. It is a fantastic trail, well paved, well marked and quite often wooded. A lot of locals were on the trail and one of them started to talking to one of our group. We were unsure if the trail went through some sections. It was unclear how much was complete. But he knew which sections were done and led us on more trail than we expected. He had ridden the trail a week earlier and a section had been completed just that week, which saved us miles of road. What a difference it makes to know the current situation.
Near Mount Vernon there had a PPG plant, that was mostly torn down years ago. They have turned it into an observation tower and park.
