Oasis
Monday morning was another sunny day. I decided to stay put for the day as I was not up to riding anywhere. The Camden Cookshop was the only place I could stay within 50km. And it is a great place to be stuck. There is access to power, showers, toilets, wifi and food. I ate some frozen supermarket pizzas (better than the alternative which was flatbread with peanut butter). I drank a lot of water and electrolytes.
This working farm is an oasis for cyclists, with mountains in all directions. Here are some images.

The owner was mustering and drafting sheep all day and the working dogs, that had enthusiastically greeted me the day before, were all scattered around the yards asleep by 4pm.
An array of cyclists came through in the time I was there. An impressive bunch of people. There was a young couple who turned up at about 1pm who had ridden from Blenheim that morning and were pushing on to Cob Cottage. Then a 70 year old woman riding a Specialized electric bike who had also come from Blenheim in one day. And four retired doctors doing a 200km circuit through upland Marlborough.
At the end of the day I was offered a ride to Cob Cottage the next day, which I was grateful to accept. Cob Cottage is the gateway to Molesworth, the biggest and most isolated farm in New Zealand. If I can traverse Molesworth and get to Hanmer (90km further on) I can make changes.
