Not a lot to say about today. I briefly considered pushing all the way to the border, but a long drink of cold water cleared my head.

Pretty morning colors let me ignore the fact that my shirt is stuck to my back and my hands are slipping on the grips

Hard to see in the picture, but birds would hop up to his (ahem) belly and peck away at something. Insects, I presume. He didn’t seem to mind

With so many mangoes just lying on the road there were no buyers for these

Lots of other fruit stands, smelling ripe (in a good way)

Rivas seems like a pleasant town, once the sun got low enough to stroll comfortably

Benjamin MeyersonHi David fabulous journal thanks for sharing. A gear question if you can bear it, how do you like the Ortlieb Fork Packs, thinking of minimizing and going that route rather than front panniers and a rack. Do you have the larger or smaller ones? Any thoughts? Thanks and safe and happy travels to you.

David ChavezI got the larger ones, and quite like them, no problems or complaints. My tent (sans poles) fits in one, the other has my water filter (unused, at the bottom), toiletries, and charging stuff and usually a packet of wet wipes on the top.
