It rained all night and into this morning, in spite of no rain being reported by any of my apps. It had lifted enough by 10:15 that I felt confident enough to start out, but it soon picked up again and I ended up calling it a day when I passed a decent looking hotel.  It’s now two pm, the rain has stopped and the roads are dry, so I’m slightly regretting my decision.
