6/3 To Comstock Park

outside Grand Rapids

I was having trouble getting the speed to read on my cycle computer the day before. There is a bad connection. It seems to not work very often now and is basically useless. The GPS is still working and I will figure the numbers out later.

Today's ride was quite flat for the first 3/4. Ken and I left after 10 and started seeing other riders about 12 miles in. Several species of birds were calling along the trail, even in the middle of the day. I heard and think I saw an Indigo Bunting. Heard Rose Breasted Grosbeak. Yellow Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, Song Sparrow, a Flycatcher (maybe Alder), Gray Catbird, House Wren and others.

There were 8 riders today and the support driver who rode around a bit.  We were on some nice trails, with hardly any other people using them.

A fellow rider who has not been able to join a trip lives near here and met us for dinner. Ihad not met him before.

Today's ride: 42 miles (68 km)
Total: 52 miles (84 km)
