6/26 to Amsterdam
amsterdam castle
breakfast was at the hotel. We got a later start as the distance was relatively short and people are covering ground pretty well. The trail was a rail to trail and fairly straight paralleling I90. It was nice not to have surprise turns and blind turns as some trails do. Much of it was paved but sometimes bumpy. Elliot broke a spoke about halfway and got picked up in the vehicle. I saw some patches of the invasive vine Asian Bittersweet; the first I have seen on the trip.
Lunch was at the Our Lady of Martyrs Shrine in Auriesville. This was only a few miles from the Castle.

We are staying at a hotel that is a converted National Guard Armory. It was built in 1895 and had not been used since the 1940's. The state sold it in 1995 and it was converted. They brought in a bunch of Suits of Armor and call it a castle.
Carolina Wren heard today. Ruby throated Hummingbird seen at the Shrine.
