6/22 to Auburn
Last night, we thought there was a chance of rain today, but it didn't happen. There was a Carrie Underwood concert in Canandaigua near our hotel last night. It was a mix of trail and road today. We went by some locks. Ridewithgps suggested one section of our route was not passable. They have been wrong before, but were right this time and so we had a clear alternative and the trail was well marked as well. There was another spot where we could pass over a bridge blocked off from car traffic. A few people went the alternate way. It got hot, it was dusty.
Lunch was a bit off route at an Audubon Center. Then we got we off the canal to go to Auburn and it got a little hilly. The roads were mostly good for cycling. Most of the canal trail was good, though much was not paved.
We stayed at this hotel 3 years ago. and went past a hotel in Newark that was about to close up when we were there on that trip.
