RT 66 Day13-Standin’ on the Corner

RT 66 Day 13, Flagstaff to Winslow. As 60 mile rides go, this was relatively easy as we dropped down 2,000 ft and had a mighty SW wind pushing us along.

One of the many oddities you see on Route 66, this is Meteor City, not an actual town but a trading post opened in 1938. It borrows its name from the nearby Barringer Crater, which is thought to be the best preserved meteorite crater on earth.

We rolled into Winslow by 1p, and after two nights of tent camping, felt like we deserved some posh digs. Looks like Earl’s Motor Court will have to do.

The mandatory Standin’ on the Corner photo, with, we think, Don Henley.

It’s a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford… lots of flatbed Fords around town.
