RT 66 Day 6-Solitude on 66

Another great ride on RT 66. We took a chance on taking the Amboy route knowing the road is closed for much of the way. It was a good choice,

We got an early start as we had a long day ahead.

Good breakfast at the Ludlow Cafe. During our stay we hit all four hot spots-Dairy Queen, Ludlow Motel, Ludlow Cafe and the Chevron.

After 30 miles we landed at Roy’s for snacks and to load up on water. No other water opportunities for 40 miles.

RT 66 is officially closed just east of Roy’s. We forged ahead and made it around multiple washed out bridges. As the road was closed, no cars for 30 miles. Perfect.

We heard the plan is to have the section of RT 66 repaired and open to the public in 2026. So much work to do, it seems a stretch. Either way, we enjoyed the solitude on our epic 69 mile ride today.
