RT 66 Day 35-Rollin’ to Rolla

Last night’s cabin camping at Ozark Estates was the lap of luxury, and affordable. A nice destination after a 70 mile ride.

We were in Steelville Missouri Friday April 18. Thought of you as we saw a few spots advertising that they were on Route 66.
Lots of hills in Missouri.
You’re going great!!! Closing in on the Windy City.

Today’s ride, while less miles, brought out the tough Missouri hills. It was up and down all day.

Even though we’re in the hills all day, the Missouri landscape is a treat to ride through. Gorgeous two lane black top roads with dense vegetation and flowing rivers.

This is the site of an 1837 Cherokee campsite along the northern route of the Trail of Tears. More than 60,000 Cherokee people were forcibly removed from their land in north Georgia as part of the Indian Removal Act driven in part by the Dahlonega gold rush.

Bethany WallSo much history of all kinds that you two have brushed shoulders with throughout this trip. Thank you for bringing this important facet of it forward. I, for one, did not learn about it in school... it was only after, as I heard from more people with more perspectives...
