Day Two: Albuquerque, NM to Grand Junction, CO
Today's drive target was Grand Junction, CO (381 miles). First thing: Coffee and Wordle in bed - by the way Hampton Inn's coffee leaves a lot to be desired. Stopped at local Starbucks to get the good stuff.
We were welcomed to Albuquerque by a roadrunner in the parking lot and hot air balloons overhead. Beautiful clear blue sky and lovely temperatures.

Passed through many Indian Reservations. First gas stop was Aztec, NM. Found a UNESCO World Heritage site in Aztec, NM - Aztec Ruins National Monument. Excavated and restored settlement of Pueblo Indians and well maintained.
Crossed border into Colorado and the further north we went on Hwy 550 we climbed into the Rockies western slope of Colorado (San Juan National Park).
Durango and Ouray were cute mountain towns and we had to stop for a quick refresher beer in Ouray. North of Ouray turned flat and dry - a precursor to Utah.
Pulled into Grand Junction for a two night stay at Two Rivers Winery and Chateau with nice views of the Colorado Monument National Park.
