Day Five: Winnemucca, NV to Prospect, OR via Crater Lake NP
Started again with Wordle and Keurig coffee (Holiday Inn Express has Keurigs?). Target was Prospect, OR via Crater Lake National Park (362 miles) - relatively short drive day. Luckily we did find a coffee shop in Winnemucca, NV for the morning java jolt.
Happy to enter Oregon and see Nevada in the rear view mirror. Passed many Oregon ranches. The most memorable was Crane Creek Ranch with their multiple bronze-entrance monuments.
We knew were getting closer to Crater Lake NP when the Ponderosa pines and Douglas fir towered above both sides of the two lane road. Excellent day to see the caldera-created Crater Lake - the air was clear and sunny.
Ended the day in Prospect, OR at the Prospect Historic Hotel - great people, good food and Oregon wine.
