Day 64: Goodbye, VT; Hello, NH
Randolph, VT to North Woodstock, NH
We left VT on Saturday after a nice, relaxing visit with my mom. I did enjoy cooking a few meals- I’ve missed that; the extent of my cooking has been boiling water for two months.
Originally, we were going to route back on the ACA course from Bethel by backtracking from Randolph, but we decided to be more creative and see new scenery by riding over to Chelsea via dirt roads which were in better condition than many of the paved roads we were in throughout the US. Eventually, we made our way back onto the ACA route near Haverhill. The traffic picked up once we were in NH, but drivers were generous while passing. Once on to route 112, all mellowed out as we headed to North Woodstock to set camp for the evening. We are camped at Maple Haven; it’s expensive for the accommodations with its crappy coin operated showers, but it’s the only game in town. The town was bustling with breweries and tap houses last night, but we decided to buy food at the expensive but somewhat well-stocked, for a gas station, market. Once at camp, there were threats of sprinkles, so we found a covered area, ate dinner, and chatted with a motorcyclist who was also seeking shelter.
It looks like no rain in the forecast for a few days as we head to Maine. We should be there tomorrow at Mike’s mom’s place which is our final eastern destination before heading back to VT.
The “Maine” goal will be met tomorrow!
