Nong Khai

After starting off on the 212 we were able to enjoy the second half of the ride to Nong Khai on back roads. The end of Lent festivities were supposed have finished last night but Nong Khai seemed as if it was gearing up for once last bash.

The local Naga Monument was taken over by a big stage with the musicians and sound crew getting ready for later in the day.

We are spending two nights at the Pikul Apartments, a couple of blocks away from the river. It seems to be an institution in Nong Khai with some long term travelers spending months here at a time.

In the evening we went down to the river to experience the last night of the party. Mostly just food stalls and some really bad singing by some of the vocalists on stage.
