First business of the day - a couple of cups of coffee watching the sun rise over the Mekong.

Then a quick ride through town to find some breakfast - fried chicken wings and rice enjoyed on our verandah.

We only got going just before eight o'clock because was so pleasant next to the river. Most of the day was on quiet roads through rice paddies and rubber plantations punctuated by little villages. We had two sections on the 212 totalling twelve kilometers, about of fifth of the ride. All in all a very relaxing ride.

Rice and rubber don't do much for biodiversity but at least the rubber trees provide some shade.

Two warning signs during our short sections of the 212. The first explicitly specified elephants. The only wild mammals we have seen so far on the open road are squirrels.

We're in a large hotel just off the 212 for the night. The Mekong is about a kilometer away. Hopefully we'll get to spend tomorrow night near it again.
