Bangkok
We had a lazy morning and checked out of our hotel after eleven thirty. It was less than four kilometers to the railway station where it took only a few minutes to book seats on the 13:21 train to Krung Thep Aphiwat station in Bangkok. The only seats available were in third class so we would have to sweat it out for a few hours. It was hot enough at the Lam Narai station with the thermometer reading thirty six degrees. The bicycles were booked in as freight and still only cost ninety Baht a bicycle per train ride.

The train arrived only twenty minutes after it's scheduled time which in Thai terms is practically on time. We were squeezed into a tiny bench seat with a rather large woman, would made for a sweaty four journey but with the windows open there was enough breeze to make it bearable.

Four hours later we arrived at the new thoroughly modern Krung Thep Aphiwat station. It is light years away from the old main Bangkok station at Hua Lampong and is no different to what one expect to find in any large city around the world. Apparently Hua Lampong is to be changed into a museum but it is still currently in use for local trains.
We have booked a night at a hotel a few kilometers north of Krung Thep Aphiwat but will be back there tomorrow to catch a train to Petchaburi.
Today's ride: 10 km (6 miles)
Total: 2,217 km (1,377 miles)
