Hồ Xá

We took our time leaving Đồng Hới, stopping to take photos as we made our way back to the QL1A.  It was after seven by the time we got going.

Leaving our river front hotel.

It was still raining gently but seldom enough to bother us.  After about fourteen kilometers the road split with heavy vehicles being shunted onto a new road.  The relative quiet continued for more than thirty relaxing kilometers.  All the while the rain fell ever so gently and the only time we took shelter was for a few minutes seven kilometers before the end of the ride.  Soon after that we came upon a war cemetery.   We had seen some of these before on our earlier trips to Vietnam but this was the first we had seen in the north.

We were worried about the lack of decent accomodation on this section but we found a nice hotel in Hồ Xá for the night, well positioned for us to access  the wartime tunnels at Vịnh Mốc tomorrow.

Today's ride: 67 km (42 miles)
Total: 709 km (440 miles)
