Cầu Giát - The sixteenth step ... From Bác Hồ to กรุงเทพมหานคร - CycleBlaze

Cầu Giát

I felt dreadful through the night with a headache, muscle pains and nausea keeping me awake.  So after breakfast I went back to bed and dozed until it was time to checkout.  Fortunately, the only discomfort left by then was the nausea.

All we set out to do once on the road was to get a bit closer to Vinh.  Thankfully, the QL1A was remarkably quiet and we had an easy ride down to Cầu Giát.

We passed a number of these enormous logs. "But this is one of the smaller ones" Leigh said when i asked her to pose - I didn't feel like cycling back to the bigger examples. How long will it take to replace these trees?

Andrea BrownHorrible. We saw that in Laos in 2014, huge teak logs on boats covered with tarps to escape detection.

Jean-Marc StrydomWe've seen this in Cambodia and similarly in Mozambique as well but I suspect in those cases the wood is heading to China.

We spent the rest of the afternoon resting in a rather crummy hotel room.  Hopefully tomorrow all will be well again.

Today's ride: 33 km (20 miles)
Total: 364 km (226 miles)
