Come on, baby don’t you want to go?

Day Eight: Rest

A day off in Chicago: sweet. We chose to stay in the city’s Lakeview section mainly because of its proximity to Wrigley Field. It was a good choice all on its own. The neighborhood has a real homey, human feel. The north-south streets are packed with small shops and restaurants; the side streets are leafy and tree-lined, sheltering rows of brownstones. The sidewalks were busy and the car traffic light. The neighborhood also is home to a diverse community. Pride rainbow flags adorned  businesses and replaced the usual yellow  crosswalk markings.

Purple Haze lemonade … so refreshing.

Like Fenway, Wrigley Field sits in the midst of the city, surrounded by restaurants, bars and souvenir shops.

The Cubbies won and the sounds of Sweet Home Chicago filled the stadium.

Karen PoretWow! Inside of Wrigley! Thank you! I have never been to a game there, and when my younger daughter went to LUC , I SO wanted to attend a Giants/Cubs game, but it never materialized.

After the game, we stopped for a beer—and ducked a sudden rainstorm—at Corridor Brewing.
