Day 29...New Brighton Beach to Monterey
Today was away from the ocean until the end. I went through mile after mile of farmland. Especially around Watsonville it was really quite amazing. There were hundreds of workers in fields picking strawberries. Even in Florida many of our strawberries come from Watsonville and now I see why. Also fields full of Brussels sprouts, celery, artichokes, and some other things I couldn't identify. There was Spanish music blaring from the fields to entertain me as I rode by.
Craig and Liz have good friends who live in Monterey. They offered to put me up for the night so a big thanks to Mark and Heidi! Mark works in Moss Landing on the route so I stopped and had lunch with him. Also found an REI in Marina to pick up a couple things.
Monterey is another beautiful little town! The plan tomorrow is go by Pebble Beach Golf Club...sacred ground for any golfer. The next two days are
going to be challenging riding through Big Sur and over some hefty mountains.
