Never a good sign to see. Means the climbing is about to begin.

So I left Darby this morning and rode about 2 miles down US highway 93 to the Chief Joseph Ranch where Yellowstone is filmed. As I approached I saw cones, barriers and signs in front of the gates. No Photography, no Parking. I could see what I think is the main house up on a hill and a couple white barns further back but really couldn't see much from the highway. I stopped my bike on the shoulder of the highway and was looking. A burly security type steps out of a pickup parked there and tells me I have to move along. They clearly must be filming today. Seemed like overkill and I don't really think he had any authority over me standing on a public highway. However, for you Yellowstone fans he looked like he could have been Rip's brother and I wasn't interested in a one way trip to the train station so I moved along. Sorry I didn't get any pictures. About 20 miles down the road was Sula which consisted of a store and a few cabins for fly fishermen which is very big in these parts. Two huge climbs today over Lost Trail Pass (7014 feet) and Chief Joseph Pass (7214). Then downhill and flat ride into the town of Wisdom. Also stopped at the Big Hole National Battlefield site. 1877 battle between the Nes Perce indians and the US government. Sad but interesting and representative of many similar conflicts during those times. Our wonderful country does have an unsavory history out here.

Today's ride: 59 miles (95 km)
Total: 1,144 miles (1,841 km)
