The NERT Rail Trail Project: What a great idea!
First, this brazen promo refers to New England in Australia. It's a region in my home region in New South Wales (NSW)where this reunion ride ended. This is not about America's New England.
Although the post seems Australia specific, it is of broader interest. Especially to anybody from other countries wanting to tour in Australia.
The issue is that Australia's most populous state (NSW) has almost zero rail trails. The state of Victoria is way ahead and has many excellent rail trails. NSW has been held back but is now realising its error and will fund several long overdue rail trail projects.
Recently, post-tour, I have discovered there is a very good chance that eventually a Rail Trail will be developed from Armidale to the Queensland border across the high country of our New England. This is a brilliant idea. Armidale is the next main town up the road from Tamworth.
This would be a great route for cycle-tourists.
The group advocating for the trail does need some support, positive comments, affirmation that it's a good idea etc
If you are interested in Rail Trails for cycle touring, community health or community development, are on Facebook and feel like cheering the project on, you can do it here:

It would be especially great if they received some positive comments and "Likes" from international cyclists.
