Hohentengen to Wehr
Long day ended with a warm shower..
We’re a little late getting away from the meadow this morning because we decide to breakfast at the shelter. Once packed, we do the gutbuster hill to the road and from there follow mostly Route 15 towards Bad Sackingen. The route varies from riverside track to beside the road. The latter isn’t particularly pleasant but beside the river it’s blessedly shady for such a hot day. There’s a surprising amount of cycle traffic for what seems a mainly rural area.

We enjoy the weather improvement, but it is hot. Most of our ride is in Switzerland so we don’t overspend. We stop for a much needed ice cream at Laufenburg, a very picturesque spot with river and bridge views.
Bad Sackingen comes up- it’s a particularly pretty town with colourful old half timbered buildings and a large church.
From Bad Sackingen, we still have about 10 kilometres to do, to get to the house of our Warmshowers host in Wehr. The climb is uphill but the gradient is gentle. Once near our destination, we buy some essentials from the local Edeka and head to our host’s home.
Annette has a beautiful place and she welcomes us in, giving us a cold drink immediately.
Following a wonderful dinner, and interesting conversation, we crash onto the most comfortable bed and are out to it before I can listen to two minutes audiobook time. Kate Atkinson will have to wait.
Today's ride: 67 km (42 miles)
Total: 608 km (378 miles)
