The cycle path continues to be a good track, with reasonable space from cars.

Path beside river initially, then a steep climb. The day has green leafy woods, newly planted maize/corn/barley, blue-green river views, and tile-roofed villages tucked under the high range of the Jura. The Rhone has forced its way down through the outer edge of these mountains creating a wide fertile valley.

At Chanaz we see the canal that connects to Lac du Bourget. We could detour to Aix les Bains!

The cycle path to Aix Les Bains (60 kms) looks to be loose shingle but manageable.

Very hot again by afternoon and protect arms with sleeves.

La Balme. A picturesque part of the river.

Coped with the three short tunnels on D road, traffic heavy , then past Champagneux  to a small marina at Port Mur. They have a pool! We eat ice cream first.

Today's ride: 52 km (32 miles)
Total: 124 km (77 miles)
