Angers to Château-Gontier.
From the Maine to the Mayenne. Beautiful day by the river.
Leave Angers latish having wasted time looking for an ouvert Carre-Four. A woman laughs when I asked for directions to an open supermarket - ‘C’est France,’ she chortles.

Once underway we come to enjoy a relaxing day along the two rivers. The Mayenne, in particular is very pretty. The other aspect of Dimanche are the numbers of people out picniquing en famille. We’ve been quite impressed by this aspect of French life and also by the huge swathes of green space provided for the public along rivers, particularly as we come into large cities.

We arrive at Château-Gontier campground at about 5:00pm with still enough heat in the sun to activate our solar charger for phones. The campground is quiet as the residents are mainly OAPs in their campervans unlike the two new arrivals a velos. We drift off to the ubiquitous pigeon cry ‘oo oo pukeroo’, as Ann thinks they’re saying.
Today's ride: 59 km (37 miles)
Total: 1,651 km (1,025 miles)
