A plunge in the Irish Sea.
A day on the coast
June 6 Monday.
With five of us crammed into the Berlingo we head west through lush and leafy valleys to Aberdyfi on the coast. The pretty town is relatively untouristy apart from Elsie’s boarding establishment and it’s tasteful plastic tat. The sea shining emerald in the sunshine looks inviting even if you suspect that it’s temperature is likely to be icy.

We hike high above the town to where we can view the estuary of the Dovey and the coast south. Following a walk along the ridge we descend to a shady graveyard and lunch on Lidl baguettes and healthy green stuff.
Time for what cannot be avoided – a plunge in the Irish Sea! Ann dives under first and the rest of us follow– fresh would be understatement but the body adjusts.
Home to Rock Mill and an unexpectedly enjoyable movie ‘In Time ‘ with Bill Nighy a little less bumbling than usual and the vivacious Rachel McAdams.
