Our best day yet: superb bike paths along the ocean and through towns

Camping in Berck sur Mer. This campground has been running for 50 years. The mother (the original owner) and her daughter run it now. The camping was ok, but it was a bit odd as they locked the showers and toilets at 10 pm, and they denied Barry access to their swimming pool as his swim trunks were too long. Guess he will have to dress like a French man and get a speedo for our time in France.

Charmaine RuppoltThat's odd they would lock the toilets up at 10 - - but I assume they'd open them early? And weird about Barry's swim trunks were too LONG to be allowed in the pool!

As we broke camp (very early before our neighbours were up), this dog watched us very quietly from the neighbouring camper.

The dog and his owner came out to wave us off.

La Baie de Somme region is outstandingly beautiful. The riding conditions are first rate with excellent separate paths and you follow the coast line and see incredible scenery as well as this bird reserve.

We were ready for lunch, so we ventured off of the route to Le Crotoy. What a spectacular place with vistas in all directions. When we arrived, the tide was out and the complete bay was beautiful sand. We made our lunch here and while we ate, the tide came gushing in. Within no time, the bay was full of water and the fishing boats and tour boats appeared. We have never seen a tide so strong or fast.

Le Crotoy, low tide for as far as the eye can see. La Baie de Somme - don't miss this region if you are travelling in this area.

We have cycled along the coast from the North and around this large bay - we are camping just beyond the southern point of the bay. Le Crotoy on the north point of the bay is where we had lunch.

Today was a very special day in this village. People were dressed in their traditonal clothing and the houses were decorated with flowers

As soon as we arrived at our campsite, this cat came over and curled up on our tent groundsheet
