We passed the EU Parliament building on the way out of Strasbourg

Having difficulty finding our way back to the EV15, we pinned a hotel on the map, (Château de Pourtalès pictured below) and made our way to it thinking we'd be able to quickly find our way back to the route from there.

Unfortunately, the hotel proved to be really scenic and we got distracted pedaling around it and checking out the site. If we would have kept going according to the map, the trail was probably a quarter of a mile past this hotel. But we got in a conversation at the far end of the hotel with a guy who told us to follow a pretty park path and connect back to the trail from there and before you know it, we probably added an additional 5-10 miles of confusion to our route until finally making it back to the Rhine.

Outside a key mapping hotel in Strasbourg as we try to navigate our way back to the EV15 path. We were having difficulty navigating back to the route, but we thought this hotel (Château de Pourtalès) seemed to be fairly close to EV15. So we Google mapped our way to here. But we ended up still having to pedal many miles before we successfully reconnected with the trail again.
We were kind of curious to figure out what this crop was and later discovered it appeared to be sorghum

Steve Miller/GrampiesSorghum it is. We wonder every time we see it, get it wrong (always guess quinoa ) and always get corrected. Good for you getting it right.

Detour sign about 20 miles out from our destination today. We were concerned because this morning's ride connecting us back the EV Route from our stay in Strasbourg had been a fiasco. Google Maps (for bikes) had sent us down a lot of muddy trails w big puddles and kept telling us to turn on paths/trails that literally didn't exist. Our Ride With GPS app had been working pretty well as long as we were already on the trail. But now we were being forced off our route. We spoke w a passing biker to ask for his advice hoping that maybe the detour had expired and we could actually pedal through. But he confirmed that we needed to take the detour and tried to explain the new route to us, but still left us a little confused
