Ellen was trying to get her hands on some eiswein (or ice wine) which apparently Rüdesheim is well known for. It's wine made from grapes harvested after the first frost.
We checked out a local wine merchant and he convinced her that eiswein is too sweet and he got her to try another dessert wine instead. Ellen loved it and asked "So can I just get a glass of that to go?".
He said "Sure"
"And can I just walk out of here and drink it in the street?"
"Of course... This is GERMANY!"
and away she went

We walked by a cute little drinking area that looked like they were closing their doors, but we heard music so we snuck in and this guy was singing Western folk and pop tunes with a guitar.
It was perfect
Right after we walked in and sat down he asked us if we had any requests. I said "Paul Simon" and he played "Sound of Silence" for us.

We started talking and I told him I played banjo in couple bluegrass bands in Baltimore MD and a little guitar once in a while. So he handed me the guitar and said "Here... play something".
So I played Wagon Wheel and another tune and that was good enough to cover our drink tab for the evening
Today's ride: 23 miles (37 km)
Total: 381 miles (613 km)
