Day 57 Rest Day in Estancia La Angostura

December 19, 1999

We wake up at 5 o'clock as planned but cannot get ourselves to rise and do more of Ruta 40 today. Instead, we sleep in and fix a nice breakfast with some eggs we buy at the estancia.

There is virtually no wind this morning, which we think we could be getting in good mileage. After breakfast we go for a little hike to a suspension bridge built over the Rio Chico to transfer sheep to pastures on the other side. The bridge is narrow and has not been maintained for a while. Boards are suspect or missing.

Patrick carefully goes to see whether the grass is really greener on the other side.

We walk back have lunch and relax the rest of the day. Spaghetti for dinner, maybe that will get us motivated and going tomorrow morning.
