Day 3 Santiago: Settling into a new culture
Understanding a new way of doing things
We visit the tourist office, get a city map and some directions. First, we walk to Cerro Santa Lucia, a pretty green hill amidst concrete. Walking trails are laid out around and up, on to top is a view of the city and above smog / clouds we can see the Andes. That first ridge looks awful high!
We walk to another park where a tramway takes us to viewpoint at an open air church where the pope once held mass. Again a nice view of the city and some mountains, but very hazy due to pollution.
Visit some more craft shops, but nothing bought yet.
