Day 192 To Urcos
We are on the road by 7:15. It’s cold we have gloves and layers on. We continue with ups and downs but still mostly losing altitude. We go through or bypass more towns today. We ride through one town looking for an Inca Wall or gate. No luck. The road continues to wind down through the valley following the river and railroad with high mountains on the side.
About 20 kms from Urcos, we stop for lunch, just as two cyclist come around the corner in the opposite direction. They are Americans 2 weeks into a 4 month trip. We are at the end of ours.
The last few kms we have to climb out of the valley and around back into Urcos. We find the plaza, check out 3 hostels. Finally, the best is Los Amigos looks freshly painted. No hot water though.
We cook our last “emergency” meal stir fry chicken and pasta in the courtyard of the hostel. Rachel has finished another book. Now we have 3 for book exchange in Cusco. Patrick is reading to finish his. We cleaned out our panniers of excess food and stuff like candles and plastic bags.
Time to go home. Tomorrow is our last day cycling to Cusco. Hike the Inca trail, arrange for going home buying tickets, box the bikes, souvenir shopping.
Soon we will eat Sizzler, and taco bell once again.
